Smart Features Overview

You may not have heard of Neato (Neato Robotics), the California-based company that specializes in ' robot ' vacuums, but if you're the owner of one of the D series models (D3, D4, D5, D6 or D7), and you've been hankering for Siri voice control of one of these devices, then you'll be excited to learn that the company has announced that they're going to introduce Siri Shortcuts to their app.
Their range can already be regulated using Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT, and although it does not seem likely that HomeKit functionality will arrive on their devices – HomeKit does not presently have a vacuum category – the Siri Shortcuts update will be more than welcome, particularly if we can see that Shortcuts will be much more integrated with the HomeKit system.

One website erroneously asserted that this would be the "first recognized' official example of a robotic vacuum cleaner adding Shortcuts assistance,' which is not actually right; Xiaomi's robot vacuum line, including the Roborock line, can be installed in the Mi Home app, which has been running Siri Shortcuts for some time. Nonetheless, it's a welcome addition, and considering Xiaomi's vacuum line tends to be region locked, the Neato variety becomes much more attractive then.

The release of the Shortcuts update is said to drop some time this fall, but if you want to know more about the Neato range of intelligent, linked vacuums, please visit their website:  neatorobotics.com
