Starting this fall, HomeKit Secure camcorders are gaining the ability to recognize faces, allowing notifications to include the person's name. The latest feature, like all things Apple and HomeKit, provides these smart notifications using local image processing through a HomeKit hub and the user's photo library. If that wasn't enough, HomePod will take action by announcing its arrival once it is updated later this year. If you're already on the latest versions, here's how to enable and manage Face Recognition.
Apple occasionally offers updates for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and macOS as closed developer previews or public versions. While sticks contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that can prevent normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac and are not intended for everyday use. day on a primary device. That's why we definitely recommend that you stay away from developer previews, unless you need them for software development and use the public version with caution. If it depends on your devices, wait for the final release.
Once you have Face Recognition enabled, faces passing in front of the HomeKit Secure camcorder will be automatically scanned by the HomeKit. Notifications will include a person's name if recognized. HomeKit uses existing faces and people in the Photos application, which means no further steps are required.
If someone is not recognized, you can examine all the faces that were seen in the Home application, where you can assign further recognition, as appropriate. Need an update on how to use the Faces and People feature? Then check out our helpful guides here.
Logitech Circle View is our favorite built-in HomeKit camera, with a setup process that doesn't require you to download another application or create an account. Simply unplug your camera, open the Home app, and scan your HomeKit pairing code and you're up and running. Weather resistance allows this camera to work indoors and outdoors and has clear 1080p images, 2-way audio and, of course, HomeKit Secure Video, which works with face recognition, and stores videos in iCloud.
Of course, the Logitech camera isn't the only one around that supports Apple Face Face technology in the HomeKit. Several others, including the fully wireless eufyCam 2 and the sleek Netatmo Smart Indoor camera also support the latest HomeKit feature.
