A Robovac That Can Climb Stairs Thanks to Matter Technology is Now Available on Kickstarter

Cupertino, March 22, 2024

In what appears to be a world first, a company called Migo Robotics is launching a Kickstarter campaign for their new robot vacuum cleaner that they claim will not only be Matter compatible, but will also be able to do what virtually all other robovacs cannot be able to do - to climb your stairs! A first in the field of robot vacuums and mop cleaners, the Ascender features the ability to climb stairs while ensuring a thorough clean of your entire home. The mechanical technology that makes this possible, together with the built-in AI algorithms, the large battery capacity and a completely closed all-in-one docking station, distinguish it from many contemporary products. This fascinating Smart Home product is designed to effectively navigate stairs of different heights (up to 22 cm/8.7 inches). It achieves this by using a range of stair climbing functions, including twist, rotate, pivot and more, to maneuver across different types of stairs. It can handle different stair heights, obstacles, and surfaces, ensuring comprehensive cleaning without the need for manual intervention. It has a suction power of 9700 Pa, which should effectively remove dirt, grime, and pet hair from both carpets and hard floors. With high-quality brushes and an advanced filtration system, the company claims that their robot vacuum cleaner provides a deep and thorough clean, leaving floors clean and allergen-free. When it comes to smart integration, Migo states that it will be compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, as well as Matter (using Matter 1.2) to integrate it into Apple Home as well, although the two things to note are that that is so. So far, we still haven't seen any movement for robovacs when it comes to Matter and Apple Home, and since this is a Kickstarter, there's a chance that could change, so it's a good idea to be cautious with future promises. The Ascender is equipped with an HD camera, high-precision LiDAR, and 6 Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors, which are said to greatly increase navigation accuracy. Moreover, the advanced AI algorithms integrate with a powerful 5 TFLOPS AI computing engine, improving intelligence. Some key points: Cleans up to 500 m² (500 ㎡) with one battery charge AI Obstacle avoidance for more than 100 objects Zero gap, seamless edge cleaning 17N mopping pressure Ultra-small walkable distance Low noise operation* Self-emptying and refilling Self-adjusting Washing and drying *With a quieter dust extraction volume and a noise reduction of 10 dB. You can check out the company's Kickstarter page for yourself to see if this piques your interest, especially if you have stairs!
