Aqara Camera Hub G2H Pro: New HomeKit Secure Video Camera Unveiled

Cupertino, September 30, 2021

You can tell there's no Christmas celebrating in China. Just a day before Christmas Eve, Aqara has unveiled its new Camera Hub G2H Pro, Homekit.Blog reports. The HomeKit Secure Video camera doubles as a Zigbee hub and offers some improvements over its predecessor.

Visually, the Pro model is no different from the Aqara Camera Hub G2H. Only the blue LED has been replaced by an RGB LED, which can indicate the different states based on the color. Even the power supply via micro USB remains unchanged.

Under the hood, however, there are some innovations. The field of view is now slightly larger at 146° instead of the previous 140°. In addition to storing recordings in iCloud thanks to HomeKit Secure Video, an SD card of up to 512GB can be used. Previously, the limit was 128GB.

Under HomeKit, the G2H Pro displays a motion sensor in addition to a security system with four states: home, away, night, and off. The predecessor model does without this additional function completely.

In addition to HomeKit, the Pro model also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. A future update will also enable the storage of recordings on a NAS, a time-lapse function will be added and user-defined ringtones will be integrated into automations.

This positions Aqara's new model between the two already available devices, Camera Hub G2H and Camera Hub G3. We've summarized which HomeKit hubs Aqara offers for its own devices and what features the different models offer in this overview. In the HomeDevices app you can already see the complete range of functions of the new model in HomeKit.
