The new light strip is now available at the company's Amazon branded stores in North America (US, Canada) and Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK) and through selected Aqara retailers worldwide. Built on the Zigbee protocol, the LED Strip T1 has lower idle power consumption than Wi-Fi based light strips, making it environmentally friendly and more cost efficient. It also serves as a repeater for the Zigbee network, further enhancing the network's reliability and responsiveness. With a compatible Aqara hub such as the Hub M2, the LED Strip T1 also supports the new IoT standard Matter and popular systems such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT.
The LED Strip T1 is 2 meters (approx. 6.6 ft) long and can be extended using the company's 1 meter extension kits. It supports a maximum length of 10 meters (approx. 33 ft). The light strip can be cut at 20 centimeters (approx. 7.9 inches) intervals, making it highly customizable. The cut or unused portion of the light strip can also be reattached to a loose Aqara LED light strip using additional standard 5-wire ribbon cables and 5-pin connectors. More importantly, the LED Strip T1's RGB effects are independently addressable at 20cm intervals, meaning it can display up to 10 different colors with dimming and other effects.
The Aqara Home app offers several built-in effects for the LED strip - both static and dynamic - allowing users to customize the lighting effects to their liking. All of these built-in and custom effects can be used for home automation and scenes, allowing users to integrate smart lighting into the dynamic smart home experience. For example, users can enhance the home warning system with the LED strip, using different colors or effects to indicate whether the security system is armed or not and whether there is a potential threat. It is also possible to create custom home scenes, such as an evening scene with warm lighting or an entertainment scene that dims the lighting for a better movie experience.
The Aqara Home app recently introduced a new feature that allows users to sync the scenes with HomeKit. This means users can set up specific scenes that were previously only available through the Aqara app, allowing those scenes to be controlled using third-party apps such as Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home.
