Aqara introduces three new ceiling lamps for the Chinese market

Cupertino, December 21, 2023

Aqara has announced a new trio of ceiling lights as part of their own H1 series, which also includes switches, sockets and even a hub. These new ceiling lights are currently only for the Chinese market, although as with many of their products, they could see an international release sometime next year. The selection offers two round ceiling lamps in two different sizes, together with a rectangular lamp, almost in line with the previously released models that were part of a collaboration with Chinese lighting specialist Opple. As is the case with most of the company's products, these are all compatible with Apple HomeKit, via an Aqara hub, meaning they use Zigbee as their wireless protocol. Interestingly, these lights also use Aqara's MagicPair technology, which we first saw used on the Aqara Camera E1. All ceiling lamps from the Aqara H1 lighting series claim an impressive color rendering index of Ra98, improving the fidelity and saturation of illuminated objects. This high index ensures faithful reproduction of true colors and exceeds, for example, standard classroom lighting. Even though these are only designed for the white light spectrum, they are compatible with Apple's Adaptive Lighting feature, which adjusts the color temperature throughout the day to best reflect the time and typical usage situations for warm, neutral or cool white. While most of the light from the LEDs is placed under the central section, LEDs are also located around the inner edges of the bezel to provide more even overall lighting. Because the bezel on all three lights is only 14mm deep, these are designed to blend into the background much more than some other lighting products, including their T1M ceiling light which we'll finally review in the new year. The rectangular H1 lamp has a size of 960 x 620 mm, while the round lamps have a diameter of 500 mm and 400 mm. This puts the range above the company's older L1-350 ceiling light, and almost on par in size with the T1/T1M, which is available in China in either 395mm or 495mm diameter. Unlike the L1-350 and the T1/T1M, the H1 series uses a slightly different method of mounting the light to the ceiling, using a connector that is initially attached to the ceiling, which then allows the main light to simply the connector can be clicked. This also allows the light to be sealed, preventing dust, hair or insects from becoming trapped inside. The lights will reportedly be available for purchase through jd.com, although at the time of writing it was unclear what the price of the lighting products would be. Thanks to Eric from Wavetech for the tip.
