Aqara officially launches wall switch for European market

Cupertino, January 7, 2022

Aqara has had various wall switches in its lineup for some time. Now the manufacturer is officially bringing the first wall switches to Europe. The Wall Switch H1 EU series is supposed to fit into the 86mm wall sockets supported so far, as well as into the round wall sockets typical for Europe.

At the market launch, Aqara will bring five switches to Europe at once: A single and a double switch each with and without neutral (Aqara Wall Switch H1 EU), as well as a battery-powered wireless switch (Aqara Wireless Switch H1). The battery life of the wireless switch is given by the manufacturer as a proud five years. All switches are said to rely on a metal frame for better stability.

However, the wired double switch only has one connection for a consumer. The second button can only be occupied via the supported smart home platforms, i.e. Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT and of course Aqara itself.

If you choose the version without neutral conductor, you have to do without the power consumption measurement and the additional overvoltage protection.

Hub with Zigbee 3.0 required

Since the new switches all communicate via Zigbee 3.0, a corresponding hub is required, i.e. a Hub M1S, a Hub M2 or a Camera Hub G2H.

An LED integrated into the switch can be configured via the manufacturer's own app. You can either turn it off completely or control it together with the switch.

The new Aqara H1 EU switches are expected to be available from authorized distributors in Europe in the coming months. In Germany, official distributors include MediaMarkt, Notebooksbilliger, reichelt, Cyberport, Conrad and alza.
