Arlo introduces the essential base camera without the station light

Cupertino, June 15, 2020

Arlo has expanded its range of smart security cameras with the introduction of the affordable, essential Spotlight Camera today. The Arlo Essential Spotlight camera, which is available for pre-orders now, is designed for quick and easy setup via Wi-Fi, without the need for a separate base station or hub.

"The essential spotlight camera is a simple, plug and play solution that gives families peace of mind by paying attention to what's going on around and around the house," said Tejas Shah, SVP's chief information product. "Essential cameras are easy to use, accessible and packed with powerful security features, including a bright spot, built-in siren and two-way audio. Respecting the same premium design of our other camera solutions, the essential Spotlight camera fits anywhere and can be paired with Arlo's smart computer viewing technology, which filters out unnecessary alerts and also works with other Arlo cameras, bells and floodlights to create the perfect security solution. "

Despite the lower price, the essential Spotlight camera keeps Arlo staples, including 1080p high-definition videos with a 130-degree wide field of view, two-way audio, built-in reflector, night vision and a siren. The spot gives owners access to color night vision and can be set to activate with motion events or manually via the Arlo app.

The fully wireless camera offers two color options, the standard Arlo white and a black version. The camera works both indoors and outdoors with weather resistance throughout the year and can be wall mounted with the included hardware. The camera is powered by a rechargeable battery that promises long life, similar to other Arlo options.

The essential Spotlight camera comes with a 3-month trial for the Smart Arlo subscription service, which offers a 30-day run of cloud storage, as well as A.I. image filtering for smart notifications. The camera can also integrate with services such as Alexa, Amazon, IFTTT and Google Assistant for automation and voice controls.

Even if a hub is not needed, owners of selected Arlo base stations can connect the latest camera to it for increased range and battery life. Supported base stations include Arlo VMB4000, VMB4540, VMB4500 and VMB5000.

The Arlo Essential Spotlight camera is available for pre-order today at Arlo.com with a suggested retail price of $ 129.99 and shipped on July 13th. The camera will soon be available at select retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart.
