Arlo unveils the Pro 4 and Ultra 2 wireless cameras

Cupertino, October 6, 2020

Arlo today introduced a pair of upgraded cameras from its line of fully wireless cameras, Arlo Pro 4 and Arlo Ultra 2. The latest cameras, now available for pre-orders, offer a wide range and wireless connectivity options, along with high definition integrated video and spot capabilities.

"Peace of mind should come without compromise, which is why we continue to innovate the top products in the industry in the Arlo ecosystem. Pro 4 and Ultra 2 offer enhancements that already improve on best-in-class predecessors, providing additional flexibility that allows home and business owners to choose the camera that best suits their needs, ”said Tejas Shah, SVP Product and the CIO at Arlo. "

The new sports specifications of the Pro 4 Arlo camera, similar to the previous Pro 3, with weather resistance, wide field of view of 160 degrees, 2K video resolution with HDR and autonomy of six months. Unlike the Pro 3, the updated Pro cameras now have the ability to connect directly to Wi-Fi networks at home, without the need for a SmartHub or dedicated base station. This allows Pro 4 cameras to function as a standalone system for easier installation and configuration, and for those that already have an Arlo hub, the cameras can be integrated with others as before.

Other attractions for the Pro 4 include two-way sound, built-in siren and built-in reflector. The spotlight allows the camera to record and stream color video at night and can be set to turn on automatically when motion is detected. Pro 4 also works with Alexa Amazon and the Google Assistant for convenient voice controls. Support for Apple's HomeKit doesn't appear to be available at launch, but we suspect it will come at a later date through an update like previous Arlo cameras.

The latest Arlo Ultra 2 camera system offers enhanced visual images compared to the Pro 4, with support for 4K and HDR resolution, with an ultra-wide field of view of 180 degrees. Ultra 2 includes the same six-month battery life as the Pro 4, weather resistance, built-in siren, spotlights and color night vision. However, Ultra 2 does not gain Wi-Fi capabilities because it still requires an Arlo SmartHub to operate, but allows it to work with the Apple HomeKit in addition to Alexa and the Google Assistant.

Both Arlo Pro 4 and Ultra 2 cameras are available today for pre-orders at Arlo.com and at retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon and Costco. The Arlo Pro 4 starts at $ 199.99 for a single-camera system, and the Ultra 2 is available in one and two sets of rooms starting at $ 299.99.
