Aura air purifier gets HomeKit support

Cupertino, January 5, 2022

Less than two years ago, the landscape for HomeKit-compatible air purifiers was pretty bare, with many relying on HomeBrdige plug-ins to get a Xiaomi model into their HomeKit setups. Fast forward to 2021 and we were inundated (relatively speaking) with choices from not only the likes of Vocolinc, who were among the first to get their PureFlow HomeKit certification, but later devices from MoleKule, Meross, Sensibo, SmartMiand even Ikea began to hit us thick and fast.

The latest company to receive the HomeKit "honorary medal" is from an Israel-based company called Aura, who today announced at CES 2022 HomeKit compatibility for their Aura Air Air Purifier.

The Aura Air is distinguished from many others by its wide range of sensing capabilities, including not only standard items such as PM10, PM2.5, and temperature & humidity sensors, but also VOCs, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide.

On top of that, the filter uses specialized filtration beyond HEPA 13, with two trademark features; Ray-Filter which consists of a HEPA filter, a carbon filter and "Smart Copper Fabric. The latter component appears to work in conjunction with a set of UVC LEDs and another trademarked feature called "the Sterionizer."

The design of the Aura is also quite unique in that it is designed to be wall mounted, although you can also buy a separate stand for it, in much the same style as a standing fan that can be adjusted in height.

There is no word yet on whether the company's other product will be HomeKit-compatible, the Aura Minibut since this does not appear to be a device with "smart" features, it will not work with any platform.

You can learn more about this device through the company's website - auraair.io
