Controller for HomeKit: App update shows empty scenes and broken automations

Cupertino, January 12, 2022

The selection of HomeKit apps keeps growing. However, an old hand is Controller for HomeKit. Thanks to exciting features and continuous development, the app should be shortlisted when choosing the right HomeKit app. The freshly released update to version 5.5 has new filters for smart folders on board.

Smart folders filter automations and scenes

For quite some time now, automations and scenes can be filtered in controllers for HomeKit. This allows you to display automations and scenes from certain rooms or with specific characteristics or services.

With the new version, you now have the ability to filter automations that include the position of the sun or the presence of people. However, we find the possibility to display broken automations even more exciting. Reasons can be missing start events or no actions.

Filter automations and scenes easily

This brings us to the other new filter. If you want to clean up your HomeKit installation, you can display empty scenes as well as broken automations. With a swipe, these corpses are also quickly removed.

Numerous other improvements

Users are welcomed by a redesigned onboarding. This should give you an overview of the features and show you the differences between the free and paid versions.

Functions at a glance

In addition, you can now jump directly to the Home Manager app for Homebridge devices, the backup indicator has been removed and some bugs have been fixed.

Open Homemanager directly

You can download controllers for HomeKit for free from the App Store. Some features require a one-time in-app purchase or an active subscription. You can try the Pro version for free for seven days with an annual subscription.
