Eve Systems has a new partner on its side in Coulisse, with whom the Munich-based company plans to offer HomeKit roller blinds from January 2022. In contrast to the previous solutions, no bridge is required, as the motors are connected directly via Bluetooth or Thread.
We have already reported on Eve Systems' upcoming collaboration with OmniaBlinds and Sonevo. Originally, the blind manufacturers were going to release HomeKit models in the fall. The main players Eve Systems and Coulisse, however, were very silent. A good strategy, because the release date has only shifted from fall to the end of the year and is now officially confirmed for January 2022.
Normally Eve Systems cooperates with manufacturers of existing products, builds in the HomeKit technology and takes over the distribution. However, the HomeKit blinds are a bit more complicated and Eve Systems will hand over the distribution for the first time.
Although Eve Systems also supplies the HomeKit technology here and the direct partner Coulisse the motors. However, there is not just one model for roller blinds. Both size and materials used differ.
That's why numerous other partners come into play, who then sell the actual products to the man (or woman). A special page created for this purpose is intended to simplify the search for the right provider.
In our neighboring countries Holland and Belgium the rollos can be ordered already starting from 220€. In this country, however, we still have to be patient.
Later, the motors will be available in curtains, pleated blinds and honeycomb pleated blinds. For the connection, Eve Systems relies on Bluetooth or Thread. So a direct connection with the iPhone or iPad can be established. A Home Hub is required for automation and remote access.
As with all thread-enabled devices from Eve Systems, the same applies to the new Eve Motion Blinds: the devices will support Matter. This means they are well prepared for the future and will support Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and other smarthome systems in addition to Apple HomeKit in the future.
