EveKit EveK Video Secure Camera is now available for pre-order

Cupertino, June 3, 2020

HomeKit accessories specialist Eve has announced that her first camera is now available for pre-orders today. Eve Cam, which was unveiled at CES 2020 in January, is designed to be used exclusively with Apple's HomeKit that allows secure and private video storage via iCloud.

Eve Cam is made exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video and is designed to provide the highest level of data security and privacy. With HomeKit Secure Video, users can view, share and store videos from Eve Cam using iCloud. Video recordings are analyzed on the device via Apple TV, iPad or HomePod and are securely stored in a user's iCloud, so all information about a user's home accessories is encrypted from end to end and completely private to the user.

Eve Cam can record high definition 1080p videos at 24fps and offers a 150 degree field of view. An integrated magnetic support allows 360 degree movement on the base and easy placement around the house. Eve Cam can be wall mounted using the included hardware, but is rated for indoor use only.

The camera also includes staples such as infrared night vision and two-way audio with a built-in microphone and speaker. The plug-in camera connects directly to home networks via Wi-Fi without the need for an additional hub, although viewing streams outside the home requires a HomeKit hub, such as an Apple TV or HomePod.

Apple's HomeKit Video Security feature is used for video recording, with images securely uploaded to the user's existing iCloud storage account. The price for iCloud storage starts at $ 2.99 per month for a camera, and despite the need for a paid subscription, uploaded videos don't count for monthly data allocation. Video HomeKit Secure offers 10 days of activity through a chronology of events in the iOS Home application.

"As we expand Eve's portfolio of home surveillance products, our promise to make what happens at home must stay better than ever," says Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve Systems. "That's why Eve Cam was designed for Apple HomeKit Secure Video from the beginning."

HomeKit Secure Video also analyzes the action in front of the camera to determine when to send a notification. Preferences can be set to notify all events or users can stop registration and notifications for vehicles and animals. In addition to the Home app, the Eve camera can be viewed and managed through the iOS Eve app for HomeKit. The launch of the camera comes just one month after Eve resized her app to allow full-screen viewing and enabled switching to pause and resume live views.

Eve Cam is available for pre-order now directly from the Eve online store at a suggested retail price of $ 149.95 and will begin shipping on June 23rd. The camera will also be available through Amazon, and the Apple online store starting in July. Come back soon for our full review.
