First smart lock wire case for patio doors revealed

Cupertino, May 24, 2024

It's always a pleasant surprise to hear about any innovations – big or small – for the smart home, but it's especially nice to see the words Matter and Thread next to them. An example of this is a new smart lock for patio doors that uses Matter over Thread, which appears to be a world first. The Smart Lock Matter Tilt/Turn from Danish manufacturer SecuYou aims to not only provide a smart lock for patio doors and windows, but also offer the latest in smart home innovation, with typical Scandinavian design thrown in for good measure. If you take a quick look at the company's website, there isn't much information about these locks other than that it is designed for inward opening doors and runs on two AAA batteries. The main part of the lock is made of a metal alloy, which contains the inner mechanism of the lock as well as adapter pins. There's no keyboard as such and the black part of the case is home to the battery compartment, so control is done via your phone (via Bluetooth). As this is a Matter device it can also connect to a Thread Border Router, allowing the lock to be controlled directly from the Apple Home app, for example. This model does not work with the company's own app. Despite the product being in a category of its own, the price is still relatively reasonable, just under 1700.00 Dkr or approximately €230.00. More information about these and other products from the company's range can be found via their website.
