Abode unveils its latest smart home accessory, the low-priced Abode Cam 2, with 24/7 video recording, water resistance and 1080p video.
Abode Cam 2 is a compact, Wi-Fi-connected room that can sit flat on a table, tilt in different directions with its hinged base, or wall-mounted. Its IP67 water resistance allows it to withstand the elements if it is mounted outdoors and includes night vision for low light capture.
This ultra-accessible camera can record 24/7 or only on specified trigger events. It works on its own, but can also connect to an Abode gateway, such as Iota. Abode Iota is a gateway, camera and security system connected to the HomeKit and is able to use the new Abode Cam 2 as a movement trigger or person for the security system.
HomeKit is not directly supported, although it works with older Abode security systems. You can use the HomeKit to arm the security system and the camera as a motion sensor trigger for that system, even if the Abode Cam 2 does not appear in the HomeKit.
The new camera also includes support for Smart Detect. This new feature lets you know if a person is detected on the camera and saves a video in the timeline.
Abode supports Alexa and Google video integrations on Cam 2, and live video streams can be accessed from the Echo Show or Google Assistant displays.
“This is the perfect room for new DIY smart home security customers who want an affordable, easy-to-use and manageable solution,” said Chris Carney, CEO and founder of the home. “Cam 2 Cam is suitable for multiple environments and is available at an affordable price, without constraining or limiting consumers. Whether you are just starting out or looking to add more cameras to your accommodation system, abode Cam 2 is compact, full-featured, and extremely versatile. “
Abode Cam 2 is available for pre-order now at a reduced rate of $ 29.99 and will begin delivery in April, when its price will increase to $ 34.99.
