Add two Eve sockets to the same house... how?

Cupertino, April 5, 2024

I'm replacing a Ubiquiti mFi 8-way power controller with two Eve 3-way sockets...or trying to. First add well. When I try to add the second one, Home (and the Eve app) insists that the device is already part of Home and refers to the previously added band. They have different, different serial numbers "Home codes" (and various QR codes). Adding one, taking offline to add the other, trying to reverse the add order...none of it makes any difference. I've tried Apple support for this, but their callback system refuses to accept it when I log in "1" to speak to a technician. You have a problem ticket open with Eve. I have several identical Levitons in this house...it adds up without a problem. Smells like an Eve problem, and the damn things might be backfiring. But I thought I'd ask here in case anyone has encountered and overcome this situation.
