Long time reader, poster for the first time. & # x200B; Looking for feedback and advice, about adding videos, rather than replacing, my current audio intercom system. They share a common entrance with 3 other homes (4 in total) that have an old audio intercom "AIPHONE" that also allows the opening of the common door. When someone presses the button, you hear a buzz in the house, as soon as you pick up, you can hear a two-way sound and the receiver has a button to open the common door. The system would be about 20 years old and, since it "just works" and the fact that I would need the consent of the 3 neighbors, there are no plans to replace this.

This would be either through an iPad in the kiosk mode that I intend to mount inside the current receiver, or through my phone when I am somewhere else in the house or outside the house. When I was at home, I would still use the old sound receiver. I would like to avoid people ringing the video bell, rather than the audio intercom. My concern about mounting an HKSV-compatible camera over the intercom is that the camera is unlikely to do a good job of capturing people's faces. I'm open to using something other than HKSV, because I'm already using homebridge for a number of things, but my current video experience with homebridge via the FFmpeg plug-in isn't great and not something I'd like to rely on for use (the open idea for hearing is that people have had better and more instant experiences with other hombridge-based plug-ins).
