Airport Express vs Raspberry Pi for audio playback

Cupertino, February 24, 2020

I'm thinking of my options for streaming music to my stereo setup, and I ended up either getting an old Express airport or creating a raspberry pi with Shairport and wondering if there was any major benefit to any of them.
Most obviously, the express advantage of the airport is that it is plug and play, but I think the route from the ports of transport could provide better evidence in the future, if Apple could encourage the old ones hardware, which is very likely.
Getting raspberries would be a bit more expensive and time consuming, but I like the flexibility they would offer. What do you think?
