Allows remote access to the door for deliveries

Cupertino, April 7, 2021

I was thinking of allowing deliveries when I'm not home. I set up a Logitech Circle ringtone on a side door with a Schlage Sense lock. The door has a contact sensor on a Lyric security panel. All of these are compatible with HomeKit. There is also a room inside facing the door. When the dealer rings the bell, I disarm the security remotely, then reset it immediately (with a 90-second countdown) and unlock the door. He can then open and place the package inside, and the lock will be programmed to lock automatically again after 120 seconds. Security will arm itself behind him. I looked at the automations to see if this could be done. I can't figure out a way. It would be ideal if a notification appears asking me if I want to run the automation when the bell rings. But ringers can't start automations. And manipulating the same object twice in the same automation doesn't work (disarming, then resetting the alarm.) I think I could click a scene that disarms the alarm and unlocks the door, then click the alarm to arm it again. It seems silly to do it this way, because it doesn't simplify the process much. It would be just as easy, maybe even easier, to click disarm, immediately re-arm to start the countdown again, then unlock the door - 3 actions. But it would still be nice if this could be automated. Any idea?
