We have a Hue hub that controls most of our devices and we have configured Widgets for our most used functions. Of course, the widgets are gone now. There is the option to set up shortcuts for those features and use the home screen icons to trigger them, but it’s not as easy (drag and tap for a widget, vs. find the folder full of shortcuts and tap one) . I tried to set up Home to do the triggers, but after I managed to work from my devices (swipe down to Control Center, tap Favorites for shortcuts, tap the correct shortcut) I tried to invite my wife’s account home, so so that she can use them too (because she used Widgets the most). Her invitation received the Wheel of Death and my own account was taken out of control in Guest mode – which seems pretty common, based on my reading – and now I’m looking for a better way to control Hue devices without having to I need to worry that all my work is hit in an armed hat whenever Apple decides to “update” iCloud functionality. Is it really worth trying to set up HomeKit again? Or is this how the HomeKit works? Are there better ways to accomplish this that we couldn’t find?
