I’m actually quite surprised no one has said anything about this update here yet. I don’t have the Shapes myself, but with the new update it is able to work as a Thread Border Router for your existing HomeKit setup (making it Thread 1.3) which is the first device ever to be able to do this (besides Apple home hubs). So devices can connect to the Shapes and still be controlled trough HomeKit.
Though as I haven’t seen anyone post about this yet I don’t know if this really is how it works and if it works well. So if you have any experiences, share them 🙂
