Apple is "considering" the new rugged Apple Watch, says Bloomberg

Cupertino, March 26, 2021

Bloomberg claimed that Apple is considering launching a new Apple Watch model aimed specifically at athletes, hikers and others who would use the device in extreme sports environments, who could see how the laptop gets a new robust rubber case option.

Conformable reporter Mark GurmanApple is said to have internal discussions ahead of a potential launch later this year or at some point in 2022 at the earliest. Called the "Explorer Edition", the device will add extra resistance and impact protection, similar to Casio G-Shock watches.

Gurman notes that the "Explorer Edition" clock has not yet been disconnected and can be canceled.

If Apple continues this time, the rugged version would be an additional model similar to how Apple offers a lower-cost option called the Apple Watch SE and special editions co-branded with Nike Inc. and Hermes International. Sometimes nicknamed "Explorer Edition" from Apple, the product would have the same functionality as a standard Apple Watch, but with additional impact resistance and protection in the vein of Casio G-Shock watches.

In addition, the report claims that Apple is working on new swimming tracking features for the Apple Watch, which will probably be launched with the next generation wearable this year.
