Apple is working on the redesigned big-screen iMac, says Gurman

Cupertino, July 12, 2021

Apple is working on a large version of its redesigned M1 iMac to replace the current 27-inch Intel model, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

Last weekend Power On NewsletterGurman said the new car is still "on the road", suggesting it may have an M1X or M2X chip, but other details are still unknown.

Apple's 24-inch iMac redesigned in April this year marks the car's first major redesign in 2012, with a design considering seven new colors, a new Apple M1 chip, camera, audio enhancements and more.

Gurman argued earlier this year that Apple halted the development of its partially redesigned large-screen iMac to focus on launching the 24-inch model in time.

The recent mention of the car that could have an M2X chip would suggest a launch is not expected this year, not even in the first half of 2022, but the details remain thin.
