Apple Maps Transit directions expand across the EU

Cupertino, February 17, 2020

Apple has extended the extension of Apple Maps Transit directions to users in the EU, now presenting train, bus and tram directions in the Maps app.

The update is coming soon Apple has announced that it has completed the release of the redesigned Maps app in the United States, Giving users more precise navigation and comprehensive views of roads, buildings, parks, airports, malls and more.

Apple launched Apple Maps Transit in the United States in 2015 and has been slowly adding support for the new countries and regions ever since. Now, the Maps app in France, Spain and Germany displays local travel data by bus, train and subway when planning or researching your trip.

After completing the US experience of redesigning the US, Apple said it is "deeply invested" in creating the "best and most private" map application in the world.

In a statement, Eddy Cue said:

We set out to create the best and most private map application on the planet, reflecting the way people explore the world today. It is an effort we are deeply invested in and need to rebuild the map from the ground up to imagine how Maps improves people's lives - from sailing to work or school or planning an important vacation - all with privacy at its center. Completing the new map in the United States and providing new features like Look Around and Collections are important steps to bring this vision to life. We are looking forward to bringing this new map to the rest of the world starting with Europe later this year.
