Apple TV and HomePod can't go home again

Cupertino, October 13, 2020

It all started with a certain automation latency over the weekend. After many restarts and scratches on the head. I went to bed on Saturday thinking things were getting better. Then, on Sunday morning, I noticed that my main hub - an Apple TV 4K - was not responding correctly. What I finally realized was that even though it was connected to my phone, it didn't do anything. The clue was that the Bluetooth in that area wasn't responding, but others near my other hub, an Apple TV 4, weren't okay. I reset Apple TV and now, when I try to add it to my home, I can't completely join it. The Apple TV UI says it's connected to my house, but I can't select a room and I don't see it connected from my iPhone or iPad. My iPad is also a hub, but I don't rely on it because I don't tend to keep it in one place. Believing that I had encountered an error in iOS 14, I decided to reconnect my HomePod to my house, so that I could at least go until a patch could solve the problem. I created a separate house under another Apple ID, so I can only use it as a speaker, because the Apple TV 4K did a much better job as a hub, and the HomePod will always take over and mess things up. So I reset the HomePod and tried to add it to my house. It was locked in the "Configuration" state for eight hours. Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Things still work with my house in general, except that only with my secondary ATV hub, the automations run slowly and the BTE devices in some parts of the house cannot connect. Sigh.
