Apple TV is not available as an accessory to start an automation

Cupertino, October 5, 2021

When I installed a Meross smart Wi-Fi light strip behind the TV, I was able to create an automation that turned them on when I turned on the Apple TV. It worked like a dream. Somehow, the next day, the automation disappeared and I can't recreate it. Apple TV simply does not appear as an option when creating a "new automation" with "an accessory is controlled". It appears together with the other automations (people arrive / leave, a moment of the day appears). Apple TV 4K is updated to the latest version of tvOS, connected to the same Wi-Fi network and connected to iCloud with the same Apple ID as the Home app. Also, configure both accessories in the same room. I restarted, reinstalled all the accessories, disconnected and logged in again and can successfully create any other automations. If it didn't work on the first day, I'd think this isn't possible, but somehow it is. I have to do something wrong. I spent endless hours brainstorming and debugging. Please help me! SOLVED! I added the actual TV (LG) to Homekit, after resetting the homekit on the LG TV, if that makes any sense. He wouldn't let me add it, hence the reset. Once I did this, I was able to get led light strips to turn on when the TV turns on.
