Diogo Rau, Apple's global retail engineering leader responsible for designing, building, implementing and maintaining Apple's point-of-sale Apple systems, Apple's online store and the Apple Store, announced his departure after 10 years with the company.

In a LinkedIn post, Rau revealed that he will join the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly as senior vice president and chief intelligence and digital officer.

Rau presents his role at Apple in his LinkedIn biography:

I lead global engineering for Apple Retail, which includes over 500 stores and the Apple Online Store. Our team designs, builds, implements and supports Apple's mobile point of sale system, our e-commerce platform, the Apple Store application and a number of other systems we use in our stores. We've done a lot of interesting things, such as migrating to the cloud, scaling to the largest transaction volumes on any e-commerce site, and introducing quick ways to get products.
