Apple's smart HomePod mini speaker is forgettable

Cupertino, December 29, 2021

Anyone who has pampered themselves with a Christmas HomePod mini can now experience problems with the cheap Siri speaker. For several days now, Apple hardware users have been reporting various operational difficulties communicating with the speaker in German.

The device also knows that the current HomePod OS 15.2 has no memories - the system claims that the right application is missing. Also, the quick location of the iPhone, as well as simply sending iMessage messages to others may fail. HomePod mini accepts the order, but does not send it.

Even before Christmas, there were reports that the Siri speaker refused to execute shortcuts and such simple commands as specifying the time. All of this sounds like server issues. Apples System-Status-Anzeige In the meantime - and also now - has remained green, HomeKit should work flawlessly, according to the company.

It's not uncommon for delays during the Christmas season due to the many newly launched devices, as Apple's servers are overloaded. The problem went beyond the holidays. According to user reports, questions with Apple support did not work. Among other things, they requested that diagnostic data be sent, but stated that otherwise they were not informed of the problem.

Common troubleshooting measures, such as resetting the iPhone or HomePod mini, which are inconvenient for users, should not change the difficulties. Affected users should try restarting both iPhone and HomePod mini to see if the connection is working again. With the HomePod mini, this is done through the Home app on the iPhone. Data is not lost in the process.
