Hello group,
I recently purchased the Aqara G2H camera from Amazon. Once the product was recently launched through a U.S. distributor, as well as the homekit compatibility announcement, I thought it would be a good purchase, being on the market for a new home security system.
That being said, it came as a later thought of the underlying security of the camera system, because only after the camera system arrived did I finally understand that Aqara is a subsidiary of Zigbee, which is another name for Xiaomi, the latest company from which it experienced security flaws.
Now I'm sitting here, trying to find out if I should use the camera or return it just because I don't want my data or information stored on a Chinese server or worse to be sold to anyone. However, I am conflicted, because I understand that Apple is proud of both encryption and security, and logically, I would think that in order to win the homekit stamp, the product should have both.
Is there anyone in this group who could provide more information about the encryption and security of Aqara products?
