Aqara Hub doesn't respond to Siri requests on HomePod, but iPhone has no problems

The iPhone is an XR running iOS 16.6.1, and the HomePod Mini is running version 17.0. Aqara Hub M1S gen2 also runs the latest version. I *didn't* upgrade to the "new architecture". Every time I ask Siri on the HomePod to activate a certain security system mode; "Aqara Hub did not respond." However, Siri automations and prompts from the iPhone work smoothly. Has anyone had similar problems?
