Are (Eve) Matter based accessories flakier than their HomeKit equivalent?

Due to a terrible new firmware from Eve that basically broke my Eve door sensors and Eve Energy devices, I was forced to upgrade them to Matter to get them working again. After a day or so things have settled and they seem to be working. But they also seem a little flakier. Periodically the Home app will say they aren’t responding and then a minute or two later all is good. Never had that happen when they were using HomeKit. Is this expected? For added info, all devices are running latest, but I am still on the ‘old’ architecture.
