Its stablemates have been in the HomeKit action for some time now, so it seems that it only fits that the Arlo Pro 3 was finally compatible with Apple's smart home ecosystem.
The older Arlo Pro and Arlo 2 have HomeKit compatibility since August last year, and Arlo Ultra has been having fun since the end of 2019.
This move makes all smart Arlo security camera systems compatible with HomeKit, using the Arlo SmartHub base station – which should be VMB4540 version, by the way.
Comprehensive verdict: Arlo Pro 3 reviewed and evaluated
The recently announced Arlo Video Doorbell (which is wired) doesn't work with Apple's smart home system yet.
HomeKit integration, which runs through an automatic firmware update, means that Arlo Pro 3 owners can now use the Apple Home app to control their cameras, as well as their own Arlo app.
Through the Home app, users will receive motion notifications and video clips, be able to view a live stream from their cameras and also be able to extract that feed using voice commands using Siri.
Perhaps more importantly, people will also be able to integrate their smart security camera into HomeKit automation and do things like turn on lights when motion is detected and other similar focused settings.
Arlo camera disassembly / disassembly via HomeKit will not be activated soon. The restriction is based on the Apple end, which prevents any smart home camera – not just Arlo having the option.
