As AirPlay automations now work, it makes me wish we could disable Apple TV as a home hub

Cupertino, October 10, 2019

I set up AirPlay automations with my speaker and motion sensor last week, but it didn't work, provided the HomePod needed an update.

Well today I went into the bathroom this morning and music started playing. Which got me started!

Turns out I completely forgot that my Apple TV can do that, even on tvOS 13, no beta.

Now I wish we could disable Apple TV as a home hub, I prefer to keep it strictly with HomePod.

My reason is that Apple TV will quickly forget what you last played, unlike HomePod it remembers the last queue. Apple TV plays a random song. So I was startled when I went to the bathroom to hear heavy EDM music suddenly play.

Another reason is that it comes from Apple TV. It's nice that the actual TV doesn't turn on when it plays music, but the moment I switch music, the TV turns on!

I prefer to have my speakers resume sound so I can keep playing no matter what playlist I had played.

All in all, it's a nice feature. But there are just little things that I wished were done to make it perfect.

It would be great if there is an opportunity to get the ** last played ** HomePod to stream music to the selected speaker.

Which opens a door for music to follow you around the house via motion sensors.
