August Lock Gen 4

Cupertino, January 21, 2022

How many people have August Gen 4? I just installed one yesterday to replace my August Gen 3 because it had problems, I think the engine was shutting down. Anyway ... I have this new lock installed, set up and added to HomeKit and it is less than 11 meters away from a large bridge in direct line of sight. In the August app, the lock locks and unlocks quickly, and HomeKit detects and reports changes accurately. In the Home app, the lock doesn't lock or unlock at all. It tells me that it locks or unlocks for a few seconds, then the tile changes to "No Answer". There is no real change in the lock, it remains in whatever its original state is. This behavior is 100% consistent in HomeKit both on and off my network. I reset the padlock, reset the wifi on the padlock, and removed and added the padlock back to HomeKit. Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions that don't involve returning this lock to get another Gen 3?
