August Pro Lock reports status changes in HK, but cannot be controlled from HK

When I manually drop the lock or lock / unlock it from my own app, I get HomeKit alerts telling me what happened. So * something * works. But 100% of the time, locking or unlocking the door in the Home application fails with “No Answer”. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and watched it struggle to stay on WiFi, but even when I’m fully connected (and I realize because I can operate it outside the Bluetooth range of the August app), the situation is unchanged. – status changes reach the Home application, but its control in the Home application does not always fail. I tried to completely reset the device until the setup steps in August. No change. Any suggestions?
