Basic automation for light-motion

Cupertino, February 7, 2020

I'm sorry it's a dumb question, but it seems to be missing something.

This is my first programming for a multi-stage automation. I have an Eve motion sensor in my closet door, and Eve lights inside the closet. I want the light strips to turn on when the motion sensor is triggered and then turn off two minutes later.

Configuring this option as automation in HomeKit seemed to address each component, but when I physically tested it by opening the door, it didn't work.
I ended up deleting the entire HomeKit automation by entering the Eve application, creating a scene where the cabinet lights were on, creating a rule where the motion sensor triggered that scene and then returning to the HomeKit to specify that the scene must it ends two minutes after it was triggered. It worked, but I still do not understand why the initial automation only through HomeKit failed.

Editing: resolved. It was magically remedied when I created exactly the same HomeKit automation a second time. Technology is an unpleasant mistress.
