Can I somehow make state scripts?

Cupertino, January 31, 2021

What I want to do is create a script that says "if my bedroom is on, then turn on all the other lights in my bedroom, otherwise turn them off." Currently, I have a TP-Link light switch that is connected using the homebridge and then a light and shade light strip. I tried to create an automation in which, if I turn on the light switch, the other lights come on, but this only works if I click on the switch in the home application, not if I press the physical switch. Any help would be appreciated!
