Can you use HomeKit Thread devices to connect other non-Thread devices?

Cupertino, April 6, 2021

So I'm very new to home automation. I read and tried to get all the knowledge I could before going down this path. In my understanding, Thread is a new home automation "service" that will allow all devices to withdraw from each other. They will be able to extend the HomeKit service to devices that may not be available to the Hub. My question is are non-Thread compatible devices able to connect to Thread compatible devices to connect to the Hub? For example, if I have an Apple TV 4K as a hub and it doesn't have enough battery life to connect to the socket in my garage, I could connect a HomePod Mini closer to the Apple TV 4K, but still within the socket range, to allow that socket to work with HomeKit? This may not make sense, but let me know below.
