Disabled automations are still running

Cupertino, January 16, 2022

Every year, I install all my outdoor and indoor Christmas lights through automation so that they all light up at sunset and then go out around midnight. I have a "Christmas Lights On" and "Christmas Lights Off" scene. Then I automate these scenes to run. I'm in the process of removing my decorations, and I've noticed that everything is on, even though I've turned off the automation. I seem to remember this problem last year as well. The only way I fixed everything was by removing the accessories. I'd rather not do that this year. Do you have any idea why disabled automation continues to work? I've said that before, but HomeKit seems to be one of the most neglected and bug-free of Apple's services. It seems that none of their employees use HomeKit in their daily lives.
