DIY OpenThread. + HomeKit

Cupertino, March 28, 2021

I bet I'm not the only one interested. I searched extensively to block existing devices on the HomeKit using HAP over the OpenThread network stack. Here is my progress, after my problems / questions: - so far Eve and Nanoleaf only accept HomeKit over Thread - Eve runs on her own Eve Core. It is unlikely that we can block it or get open source to run it. - I couldn't find what the Nanoleaf bulbs / strips work on. - OpenThread is Google's implementation of Thread - Thread / OpenThread runs on IEEE 802.15.4 like most ZigBee 3 products. - We could convert some ZigBee 3 devices to run OpenThread for the network stack and add HAP to the application level. - OpenThread lists all compatible devices, but in Nordic, Silabs, TI, I don't see any accessible open source / tinkerer sdk that we could use without spending on expensive company licenses. & # x200B; For example, let's make Sonoff / iTead ZBMINI the most affordable Thread HomeKit device!
