Door sensor automation starts slowly

Door sensor automation starts slowly

I installed an Eve door sensor on the cabinet door, with an Eve light switch installed to control the cabinet lights. I also run 2 HomePods in my house, but I can’t be sure which Eve or HomeKit uses it as a Bluetooth hub (or doesn’t it matter?) However, I find that it takes 6+ seconds for the automation to trigger when I open the cabinet . However, the door sensor reports the door opening almost instantly in the home application – so I can only conclude that the Siri / HomeKit service takes some time to trigger the “if that then” logic to turn on the light. Also, after opening and closing the door several times, the response time becomes considerably faster. Has anyone had this problem and any idea what is causing the delay? (I’m thinking of buying a HomePod mini, which supports the new Thread Bluetooth technology, which my big homepods don’t support. Eve’s door sensor also supports Thread. But I’m not sure if that would improve the situation, as HomeKit recognizes the openness doors fast enough, but does not trigger automation immediately.)
