Easy way to change HomeKit administrator after death?

Cupertino, October 6, 2021

My best friend died this spring in a strange accident. I'm across the country. I helped my friend's wife on screen and FaceTime with the technique. I plan to fly in a few months. We've been Apple users for a long time, but obviously they never had to deal with this kind of problem. I am willing to do the tedious work of copying everything by hand. Do we hope there is an easier way? Work smarter, not harder. Background: His wife has kept her iCloud active as a family account administrator for now. Autopay handles Apple Family subscription / invoices. We need to change that. I plan to cancel their Apple iCloud Family plan and make my friend's wife the new family administrator so they can approve purchases for their child and be the contact. I will read the account of my friends to their family for the DRM content they purchased ... Music, movies and application sharing. I guess this will get my friend's wife out of the HomeKit because it's related to his iCloud? Is it correct or will it be repopulated after my friend returns as a non-primary user because the devices are under his account? Is there an app I can even buy that can copy some HomeKit settings to another account via their devices? Granted that I should re-enter the HomeKit device codes for security. I would prefer to minimize the work of configuration and automation, if I can. Other issues: The iPhone is a brick. My friend changed his pine on the morning of his death. They have a little boy with technical knowledge who loves Apple devices. My friend's iPad is hidden in the house by the same child. In the worst case, can I use the MacBook Pro home application to copy home settings through an application? We have access to that account on their shared Mac. I also need to reset the HomePod due to an error. Obviously, we need to find the iPad to set it up again with his account, until we change ownership. Is there anything else I missed? I know an old feature is planned for iOS15. Not sure I'm waiting 2 months. Can I make this easier? I haven't played a public beta yet. Thank you for help.
