Ecobee makes sharing smart thermostat control easy with Family Accounts

Ecobee is one of the most popular HomeKit thermostats on the market, and the company has launched a new software update bringing an even better customer experience. Family accounts allow you to create Ecobee access and control with others, without having to share authentication data.

Ecobee announced today the new feature in a press release that works with up to 15 people:

Today, ecobee has introduced Family Accounts, an easy way for families to stay connected. Family accounts allow up to 15 family members to join and control a House without sharing accreditation data. Ecobee Homeowners can choose to invite family members to share access to their home's ecobee devices.

Family accounts arrive with iOS Ecobee version 7.26.1 (7.26 for Android) and it is available now.

  1. When you're on the latest version of the app, here's how to share Ecobee with others:
  2. Open the ecobee application and select "Account"
  3. Select "Manage your homes"
  4. Select Home where you want to invite someone
  5. Select "Home Members"
  6. Select "Invite new member"
