Enable / disable automation based on enabled / disabled scenes

Cupertino, September 22, 2020

Hi all!

I'm relatively new to Homekit and look forward to receiving advice.

I just filled my house with Philips Hue lights and some Philips Hue sensors. We have set up an automation, so that every day, between 17:00 and 22:00, the lights in the bathrooms turn on 100% automatically when motion is detected. Then, after five minutes, they turn off automatically. For the most part, this is a wonderful automation.

Now my partner likes to take a bath at night to relax. For this reason, we have set up a "Bath Time" scene that reduces the bathroom lights to 5% when this scene is activated.

The problem is that when the "Bath Time" scene is active, after a while its movement in the bathroom will activate the automation of the automatic lights mentioned above. This is extremely frustrating when trying to relax.

In my mind, though, there would be a way to enable / disable automation based on whether a selected scene is enabled or not.

Am I missing something here or does Homekit just not have this functionality?

I'm still new to home automation, but what I'm trying to do seems relatively simple.

I'm also on iOS 14 if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
