In the latest episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts review both the new Thread-enabled Eve camera and the recently updated Twinkly festive lights.

We continued to see more discussions about Matter, including its ramifications on the Apple HomeKit. This week The Verge went in depth to discuss the big picture, although we still have unanswered questions.

OmniBlinds, in partnership with Eve Systems, has announced that its Thread-compatible HomeKit blinds are now available for order. Blinds are custom built and may have a long delivery time as the initial orders are placed.

Level Lock also appears to be receiving a physical keyboard supplement in January 2022. Announced to existing customers, the Level touch pad can be mounted outside the door frame as an additional means of entering the home.

In addition to the news, much of this week's episode revolved around a couple of pre-holiday reviews. Last week, Eve launched the new Eve Room 3 sensor. We got our hands on one and looked at how it held up. Most of the design is the same, but the old Micro USB port made us angry.

The second review was about Twinkly Lights, which recently received an over-the-air firmware update to support Apple's smart home platform. We installed them outside our house and were very impressed with the lights themselves as well as the camera-based mapping process.
