Eve Thermo receives Thread support in today's new update

Cupertino, October 9, 2021

Smart Home Device Company has added Thread support to its product line, and Eve Thermo is the latest HomeKit compatible device to be updated.

Eve Thermo is a smart radiator valve that allows you to control the temperature of individual rooms in a variety of ways, including Siri ...

Conventional intelligent heating systems allow you to set a target temperature for usually a single thermostat. But you may want different temperatures in different rooms at different times, such as a bedroom and a living room, and you may just want maintenance heat in unused rooms, such as guest bedrooms, when no one is visiting.

Eve Thermo offers a solution, attaching to individual radiators to allow them to be automatically controlled to reach a target temperature for that room.

Thread is an advanced technical standard for controlling smart home products, supported by many companies, including Apple. Instead of requiring each device to communicate with a fixed hub, control messages can be transmitted by any Thread-compatible device in your home. This includes the HomePod mini.

Here is how Eve describes the benefits of yarn:

First, it is a peer-to-peer mesh network, which means that devices do not need a direct connection to a central hub to communicate with each other. Second, it is designed to be a network of self-maintenance and self-healing, so that even if some devices come and go, the connection will stay alive and the network will automatically reconfigure as needed. Third, it is designed from the ground up, given the smart home, which means that special emphasis is placed on battery life and power consumption for devices that do not have a permanent power supply.

The wire is a mesh network. Which means that network devices can talk to each other independently of a bridge or a central hub. Moreover, they can relay messages to other devices by passing them so that they reach an otherwise inaccessible device due to range, walls, or other factors. And the network can be organized independently if some devices disconnect from the network.

Eve added Thread support to three of its products in April and HomeKit News reports that Eve Thermo followed today.

German smart home maker Eve today released the long-awaited update to the newer version of Eve Thermo, which adds Thread functionality. This was announced as a future update by the company in late 2020, following on from other Eve products that have now seen newer Thread products launched on the market, or have enabled Thread in current products.

Nanoleaf smart light panels received Thread support in an update last month.
