Eve has fully invested in the HomeKit smart device platform over the years, and now the company is continuing its momentum in the next phase of connected devices. The second-generation Aqua hose and sprinkler controller with HomeKit receives a firmware update that enables Thread compatibility.
The thread is the new language that smart home products from major brands are learning. For customers, this means that no more gateways or bridges are needed for smart home accessories to talk to the network. In the case of HomeKit, all you need to open the Thread communication is a mini HomePod somewhere in the house.
The new firmware update for the second generation Aqua is available starting today through the Eve app for iPhone and iPad.
With Eve Aqua, Eve's portfolio now includes three Thread-enabled accessories for the US and Canada, including the Eve Door & Window contact sensor and the Eve Weather connected weather station. A new generation of Eve Energy with Thread smart wire will be available in late April for the US / Canada and the UK, with a European version already delivered.
With Thread enabled, users can enjoy a wide range when a Thread device with router functions such as Eve Energy is placed between Eve Aqua and a HomePod Mini. Being a Full Thread device, Eve Energy transmits the data packets of other Thread accessories and improves the stability and coverage of the smart home.
Eve Aqua is an affordable water accessory that allows you to control the flow of water through hoses and sprinklers using Siri, automation and the Apple Home app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
