Eve Systems has revealed release details for three upcoming Thread-enabled HomeKit accessories.
In a new announcement, Eve revealed launch details for a Thread-activated Eve Weather temperature sensor, an Eve Energy smart connector and Eve Aqua, a smart water controller. The latest announcement follows a commitment made late last year to bring Thread wireless connectivity to the full range of HomeKit accessories.
Thread is a relatively new connectivity protocol designed for smart home use. Threaded devices create a mesh network to ensure that other accessories, such as light bulbs or door sensors, stay online and increase the speed at which commands are transmitted between gadgets. Apple’s HomePod Mini is the first widely available border router for consumers.
“Smart, stylish and of proven quality, an Eve Thread-enabled Eve Energy is the ultimate accessory for the HomePod mini,” said Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve Systems. “A coat of Eve Energy, added to your home in seconds, will cover an ultra-robust, ultra-responsive and ultra-efficient mesh network throughout your home – without the need for a bridge.”
The new threaded Eve Weather, maintains temperature, humidity and barometric pressure both indoors and outdoors, with IPX3 water resistance. Eve Weather will be available at various retailers starting March 25 for $ 89.95 CAD.
The new generation Eve Energy retains the same slim capabilities for simple design and energy monitoring as the original and will hit shelves on April 6 in Canada for $ 49.95 CAD.
Finally, the second generation Eve Aqua Smart Water Controller will receive Thread support through a firmware update in early April. The free update will be available through the Eve for HomeKit app, similar to an upgrade late last year that brought Thread to the latest Eve Door and Window sensor model. Eve Aqua is now available for USD 149.95 CAD.
