It is a unique design that splits the relay into 2 parts and the part inside the wall box is very small and can control 2 separate circuits as long as you have a common current. It's meant to turn a bad light into a smart light and is great for retrofitting old houses like mine. However, you can also use it in "off mode", where you can now use it as a standalone switch that you can use to control a smart bulb.
