Final automation of movement during the day

Cupertino, June 13, 2021

As long as we had smart devices and motion sensors, motion sensors trigger different scenes depending on the time of day. Making any adjustments to the time of day was a difficult process. Each automation for each time of day for each room had to be changed when making an adjustment. Plus, there wasn't a great solution when I wanted a mix of sunrise / set sets and time-driven day periods. Today I solved it. And yes, I used Homebridge. In Homebridge, create four dummy switches (which remain in their switched state): morning, day, evening, night). In Homekit, create four scenes: morning, day, evening, night. Have each scene switch the false switch and turn off the rest. In Homekit Automation, create four automations that start each day. I have morning and evening triggers based on the sun, and day and night, depending on the weather. This part is a little involved (but worth it): for each movement area / sensor room, create your own four scenes (M, D, E, N) and four motion-triggered automations. Using Eve for this is extremely useful, because you can name everything and keep everything organized. This is. Now, to make adjustments, you just need to edit the daytime trigger automations or individual lighting scenes (or whatever). You can also manually trigger a preventative time of day if you want for any reason, such as waking up early or testing purposes. I hope this helps at least one person. https://preview.redd.it/26r8nj4k0y471.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=a407d126772157f707c282b064c02cf780e9930d https://preview.redd.it/7q4szc4k0y471.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=b093013a29240c8a62bfcd8face7ca6d66d8cb58
